Wingate Parish Council- Our Work in 2021
- We have continued to invest in the park so it is an attractive and safe place for people to visit and for young people to play
- We continued to employ a Park Keeper and a Parks Assistant to maintain the park and other community areas to make them attractive and safe places
- We have continued to invest in our football fields and bowling green so that they remain some of the best in the area
- We have maintained flower beds with over 6000 plants
- We have continued to utilise CCTV at our park area to help make it a safe environment for all
- We have provided financial support to those who organised the Remembrance Sunday piper
- We have erected a Christmas tree and held our annual Christmas carol service
- We installed decorative Christmas lighting to light columns throughout the village
- We installed Christamas lighting at the Holy Trinity Church
- We have helped fund Christmas parties at local schools and community buildings
- We have funded a Citizens Advice service which is delivered in the village at the Community Centre
- We have provided free Poop-a-Scoop doggy bags which are available from the Community Centre
- We have maintained the church clock at the Holy Trinity Church
- We helped fund an away day for children organised by the Holy Trinity Church
- We worked with the Community Association in order to organise a summer play scheme which included a free trip to South Shields which nearly 130 people attended
- We made a substantial financial contribution to the Community Association to help keep the community centre. Without this funding the centre would potentially close
- We continued to provide and water hanging baskets throughout the village
- We are undertaking winter maintenance along the Front Street and Doctors Surgeries
- We have continued to work with the Police to help tackle crime and anti-social behaviour particularly
- We have continued to listen to residents views and speak up for them on local planning matters
- We have continued to meet regularly with Durham County Council to share views and discuss matters of local concern
- We provided funding of £10k to a Community Interest Company which has taken a lease at the former Park Keepers Cottage in the park to operate a nursery and community services
- We have submitted grant applications to raise funding to help us continue to invest in and improve the park
Wingate Parish Council- Our Commitments for 2022
- We are going to continue to invest in our park, the football changing room. Bowls pavilion and car park particularly
- We are going to continue to ensure the football fields and bowling green are well maintained
- We are going to continue to tidy the allotments we own and make sure they are used as they should be
- We are going to continue to make environmental improvements in the village and to work with other organisations so we can make Wingate a clean and nice place to live
- We are going to continue to fund and organise summer play schemes for children in the village
- We are going to continue to financially support the Community Association so that it remains open and it continues to be a focal point in the village
- We are going to continue to financially support the Citizens Advice service so that there is a local service provided in Wingate
- We are going to continue to work with the Community Interest Company and Nursery to help ensure their aspirations are achieved
- We are going to continue to work with the Police, Durham County Council and other organisations for the good of Wingate
- We are going to work with Hutton Henry Parish Council to maximise the potential for joint initiatives
- We are going to consider planning applications relating to new developments and try to ensure Wingate is not over developed
- We are going to continually monitor highways issues and seek improvements where we can
- We will continue to erect a Christmas tree and Christmas lighting decorations attached to light columns throughout the village
